Purposeful

My friend, Holly, and I were talking the other day about a word for the new year. A word that captures what you want 2009 to hold. She chose thrive. She has a new little one and very rambunctious 2 year old, so it was a fitting word. I stumbled through many words in my mind and finally called her back with mine, purposeful. I thought is was appropriate for lots of reasons.

*I want to be more purposeful in how I spend my time.
*I want to be more purposeful in what I say to others.
*I want to be more purposeful in how I interact with AnnaKate.
*I want to be more purposeful in how I take care of my body.

I think being purposeful covers lots of bases. Check out Allie Edwards blog. She has great list of words for 2009 that other people have chosen.

What word will you chose for 2009?

Good post! I'll go first...

Settled

I think that captures what I want the most in 2009.
-settle all of my to-dos with the house
-settle into motherhood
-settle into a church
-settle into my life in general so that I do not always feel 10 minutes behind

I like your word purposeful because it is similar to the one I was thinking of... intentional

Have an excellent year and may you fulfil all your purposes

Thankful...This past year has made me realize all of the things I took for granted. I want to make sure my 2009 is full of thankfulness~ family, friends, health, job, home to raise my children, great doctors, and the list could go on and on! (And thank you, Kelly, to get me thinking about a word for 2009!)

I'm still thinking about this one but so far I'm leaning towards Giving.

I would like to give more of myself to others...

my husband
my children
those that are less fortunate
my community
friends and family

I think purposeful is an excellent word.

I need to think of one for myself. Any suggestions?

WOW...Your Blog has really "stepped up" a notch or two. I love this entry, but I enjoyed all of one where you ended in a question. You really got me thinking about many topics. I need to follow your blogs more carefully.

My word for 2009 is HOPEFUL. THe past several years have depleted my HOPE, but I feel that it is coming back in abundance. I am hopeful for what my future holds. I am hopeful for the schievements my children are going to reach this year. I am hopeful that I am going to end my "people pleasing." I am hopeful that I am going to regain, renew, and rejuvenate some old friendships. I am hopeful that I am going to get a DATE.
Thank you, Kelly. For making me think. You are an inspiration and a wonderful person!

Mine would have to be Adapting. My husband had a major job change starting the first of the year (went into full time ministry) so we have a lot to get used to!
