I went in to check on AnnaKate last night before I went to bed. She is usually sleeping very soundly and just needs to be covered back up. Last night she was sprawled sideways in the crib with her hands behind her head. Her legs were propped up on her bumper (yes, she still has a bumper in her crib.) and each foot was sticking through the slats on the crib. It was so funny! I wanted a picture but my mom instincts told me that waking a sleeping child with a flash was not right.
What kind of things have you found while checking on your kids at night?
Billy and I married in 1998 after dating for 6 years. In 2006 we adopted AnnaKate. We were lucky enough to meet her birth mother and take her home from the hospital. At about 4 months old, AnnaKate was diagnosed with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome. Through all of AnnaKate's struggles and delays she surprises and delights us daily! One night I went to check on Hannah and she was completely naked...diaper and all. She was about AK's age.
One night when I went in to check on Addison, she had wiggled right out of her pajama pants! They were a new pair, and with her skinny waist they were just too big. It was hilarious! :)
The other night I checked on Max and he had his arms behind his head like AnnaKate, but both feet were inside the crib. He looked like such a big boy. But you got to love the butts up position. That is my favorite for both of my kids!

Well the exact position you described is Jackson's favorite. I'm always trying to bend his legs and get them back through the bars and not wake him up.
I love the thought of her sleeping like that. Why cant I think of a story....hmmmm.
I often find Natalie with her hands and/or feet outside the slats of the crib. I have a picture of Natalie sitting up in bed, sound asleep (during naptime). I have found Lukas upside down in the bed, almost falling off (this would be BEFORE he falls off the bed, which he has done). I have also found Lukas almost out of his pjs.
I laugh almost every morning when I find Noah on his knees butt up in the air. It's so cute. He also lays on his back with his hands behind his head which is hilarious too..
When we moved Grace to a big girl bed we didn't put any sort of guard rails up (yes, I"m that mom) and I came in one morning to an empty bed. I found her under the bed! She had apparently rolled off her bed, bounced off the pillows we had put down, rolled under her bed and continued to sleep on! I still didn't put up rails......

a couple of night ago, I went to wake Austin for school and he was standing in his clothes hamper, leaning on his bed sound asleep!
I can completely picture it! How funny. Sometimes when I check on Taylor I find that he has unzipped his one piece footed pj's about half way down. He looks like some guy in a tight 1970's outfit trying to show off his chest. It is too funny!
How cute, I can totally picture AnnaKate. Sawyer is still too little to do anything too funny. But I do find him with both hands up by his head and one is always holding a big handful of his hair.
