Christmas Spirit

I love decorating for Christmas! This is the first year that AnnaKate has really gotten into the tree. Every morning we have a tree lighting ceremony. We light the tree in her room and sing "Oh Christmas Tree" (which I know very few words...). You should see her giggle!!! She gets so excited! We then go and light the big tree and sing. It just makes my day to see the excitement in her eyes.
I have added a new addition to my decorations this year. I have really been eyeing the vintage-style paper houses. My mom started collecting them a few years back and they are just beautiful. I love vintage Christmas decorations so these fit right in. I have displayed them on the tops of my bookcases in the living room.

I have loved reading about traditions that all of my blogging friends are doing...advent calendars, Elf on the Shelf, etc. I can't wait to start these with AnnaKate. Billy and I have had a tradition for quite a while to watch certain Christmas movies. Last year we "upped" this tradition. We now watch a Christmas movie every night of the holiday season. (I will admit that some nights we don't make it through the whole movie!) We love spending the time together and getting in the spirit.

What do you do to get in the Christmas spirit?

Those are beautiful. Do I understand correctly that they are made out of paper?? Wow. I'm in a vintage phase lately, I just love how classic and timeless vintage

By the way, I love the Christmas look on your blog, you really are in the Christmas spirit!

Our mantle is decorated with paper houses, too, and little bottle-brush trees. :-)

Right now our Elf on the Shelf is tucked into Jack's stocking. I just moved him; he spent today on top of the cabinet between the living room and kitchen.

When Graham was 18 months, we started the tradition of reading the Christmas Story from the Bible on Christmas Eve. We also let the kids open one of our presents on Christmas Eve- always some new jammies! I love your "blogging paper" background! It looks so good. :)

Love them and the cool way you display them. Or traditions are not too original...we read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas before bed and open a present. OHHHH I almost forgot Oyster Stew on Christmas Eve!

We open Christmas pj's on Christmas eve, too. I also buy a new ornament every year for me & Bob and one for each of the kids. I try to buy an ornament that helps me remember that specific year. We have lots of other Christmas traditions, too! I could go on and on...

I adore those little houses, they are timeless. My decor seems to be a little sparse.

Traditions that we already have are that I give Mark an airplane ornament every year. He has 5 so far. This will be the first time that we are at our house all day on Christmas. I am having fun thinking of new things that will become traditions for Will. I love the Elf on the Shelf, but that will come later. I also like the tree light ceremony too. I plan to give an ornament and Christmas book to Will every year. The Littlest Angel is the book this year.

The paper houses are so gorgeous. I love decorating for this time of year. I just wish that we could leave it up for a longer amount of time though. Oh well, I guess it wouldn't be as special if we did that!

They are beautiful. It made me smile to imagine AnnaKate giggling while lighting the Christmas tree. I love Noah's smile and I'm sure AnnaKate's lights up the room. Merry Christmas to you.
