Small Steps
Lots of things going on in our house! Getting ready for the holidays and trying to meet my goal of having all of my shopping done by December 1st. AnnaKate is doing new things everyday. It is really exciting.
I got a long awaited email from AnnaKate's physical therapist yesterday. She said that AnnaKate was ready for walking shoes. Yippee!! Literally, I was at the Stride Rite store in less than 30 minutes. AnnaKate has taken a few steps with her therapist and is walking great with one hand held so some sturdy shoes were definitely in order. I am so excited for AnnaKate's small steps! I also had a milestone of sorts at the shoe store. The sweet sales clerk asked if AnnaKate was about 1. I have blogged about how to answer this question. You want to be honest but sometimes it opens up a whole can of worms that you may not want to discuss with strangers. Anyway, I kindly told the sales clerk that AnnaKate was actually 2 and a half and we were really excited to be buying walking shoes. She kindly smiled and praised AnnaKate for such great progress. I have become so much more confident and adept at answering these types of questions. So I am also making progress! :)
By the way, aren't the walking shoes so cute!

YEAH for AnnaKate!! HOW EXCITING!
I can hardly wait until the day that I get to go buy Addison her first pair of walking shoes!!
It sounds like the lady handled the age situation better than most people do. Now, if only more people could be that insightful. :)
Good for AnnaKate! That's so exciting! The shoes are precious. I can't wait to hear about how life changes as she is walking more and more.
P.S. I've got some work to do to get to my goal of finishing shopping by Thanksgiving!
How exciting! Now, if AnnaKate will just keep them on better than Natalie did! Natalie keeps hers on well now, but at the beginning she wanted to take them off all the time. I found that buying them a half size larger than the recommended size helped her ease into the concept of a restriction around her feet, and now she's fine with the correct size. I'm so excited that AnnaKate will be walking in 2009!
1st of all YEAH AK! I'm so proud of you!
2Nd Yeah Kelly! Your milestones are just as large as AnnaKate's.
AnnaKate May those adorable shoes bring you lots of stability and security so you can take steps with new found confidence.
Yippeee!! AK and Taylor are going to start running circles around us. I can't wait!!
I love the walking shoes! They're the feminine version of the first pair I bought my biggest boy just, like, two or three years ago. :-) Way to go, AnnaKate!
And congratulations to you, too, Kelly. The grace with which you answered the sales clerk's question deserves a lot of applause as well.
YEAH for walking shoes! Go AnnaKate....and the shoes are ALMOST as adorable as she is!!
Way to go Mama on having the confidence to answer the question and hold your head up high. Our kiddos are fighters...they'll do things exactly when they are ready:).
It just occurred to me that maybe I should mention that Archie is now five and that he didn't begin taking steps on his own until he was three years old. If someone doesn't know me I don't want them thinking that my comment was bratty. :-)
Wow! How exciting! I love following Anna Kate's progress, Kelly! She's such a little lady, now!
Congratulations on such a special milestone!
They are wonderful at Stride Rite. Love the shoes, I bought Bryn the same pair when she was two.
Enjoy every moment!
Congratulations AnnaKate!!!! What a milestone!
That is so exciing!! Love the shoes! Too cute.
How Wonderful!!! And way to go on answering honestly and graciously. I still struggle with that question. Hopefully when things settle down Emma and AnnaKate can meet!
Nice shoes big girl!!!! What a step forward for you momma!
yeah.. those are pretty cute!
You know what, you got to always be stylin...even with your first pair of walking shoes! Those are adorable and I'm sure we'll see pics soon of AnnaKate walking in those all over the place.
Way to be confident, Kelly! People will sometimes ask about Max's eye, but I really don't mind it. It's kind of like Max's badge of honor and I'm proud to tell people what he's overcome! :)
Have a great week and a great Thanksgiving!
Woohoo! I am so ecited for you and AnnaKate! This is a big milestone- before long you'll be running to keep up with her! :)
Cute kicks! How exciting!
