One of the many great things I have learned from my friend Anna is to write in your cookbooks. It was so hard for me at first to do it but it turns the cookbook in to a memory book of sorts. Each time you turn to that recipe you are reminded of a special time when you made it. When I pulled out my favorite Susan Branch cookbook to make the Butternut Bisque I was reminded of Halloween 2002 when I made the soup for Billy and Cathy.
If you have never made Butternut squash soup, you need to make this one!
Happy fall!!

We had a blast with y'all tonight. Ok, so what should we celebrate next? And by the way, your camera is awesome. The pictures are adorable. Thanks for capturing those memories!

Are you SURE Martha Stewart didn't make that meal? Who knew you could do all that fancy stuff - everything looks so good and loved the presentation!
Oh by the way, I can tell you got a new camera...the pictures are really, really good! Can't wait to see more!
That looks delicious! You are such a great cook! The butternut squash soup is so good that it is a fall must. Im so glad you write in your books, a few weeks ago I found a notation for eggs and asparagus that I made for you and Cindy! It made me smile.
Can you bring leftovers to school tomorrow? Looks delicious and sounds like so much fun! :)
You know you should really see a fall day here in Illinois. The leaves are changing, its pretty.LOL
Yum! This looks so much better than the shells and cheese the kids and I ate tonight (John is golfing in Hilton Head; I'm sure he's living high on the hog right now). Yum, yum, yum!
Also, we served butternut squash soup during our wedding reception on October 27th seven years ago. It was then, and it remains now, one of my favorite soups.
I printed the recipe off to slip into MY favorite Susan Branch recipe book (Vineyard Seasons)...it looks very yummy, and Lukas is always asking me to make butternut squash.
What a fun meal!
Why wasn't I invited? lol
The pumpkin crisp was wonderful today. I need the recipe!!! That soup looks great too!!
Love the pictures. Happy Fall to you all. Love, Kristi and Noah.
Looks like fun!
Ok, we are too much alike! Daniel and I also celebrated the arrival of Fall with a Butternut Squash soup dinner. We didn't have the salad--we were bad there--I made spoonbread to go with it. Anywho...too funny! When I told people at the lunch table at school what we were doing, they were like, "Y'all are such dorks!"
